The Uptowne Olds group hosted the 2011 ArtWalk Grand Opening at Different Strokes Art Gallery on Friday, June 24. The event was held in conjunction with the Oldstice Market. Street vendors and concessions with a variety of goods, baking, produce and wares were situated on downtown streets, with businesses open for shopping. Entertainment was provided by talented musicians and there were games for children.
The evening was a success for Wellspring and for ArtWalk with welcoming words from Mayor Judy Dahl and Debbie Ohlhausen, owner of Different Strokes Art Gallery. The Gallery has several members of the Wellspring Visual ArtNetwork Association as exhibitors, along with works from many other noted artisans and artists tastefully displayed throughout. David Todd is the featured artist at Different Strokes for ArtWalk 2011.
Thank you to the Uptowne Olds group for hosting the third annual Olds Uptowne ArtWalk opening!

Due to the fact that not a sufficient number of members voted on a Logo Design; a design was not accepted. All the designs will go to the board for further work and the choosing of a Logo process. Carroll presented, on behalf of David Todd, a Pottery Bowl to Dee Poisson whose design received the most votes. Congratulations Dee and Thanks David for your lovely gift

June 25th, 2010 - ArtWalk 2010 was started in great style with a Kick-off Event sponsored by Uptowne Olds. Held in the Library Friday June 25th, with a best ever attendance of both Businesses, Artists and the public.
Mary Schatz welcomed everyone; Olds Mayor Judy Dahl commented on the success of the past ArtWalks and this our 4th ArtWalk. "Town Crier" Denis Patry did a magnificent job of Announcing the start of ArtWalk 2010, in the towns of Didsbury, Olds, Sundre and Innisfail; then he lead the group on a Walk-A-Bout to local businesses hosting Artists for this years’ ArtWalk.
What a wonderful time the group had. Our thanks to Uptowne Olds for putting on such a successful event, Wellspring Visual ArtNetwork is so grateful for their continued support.

Mary Schatz, above right.

May 12, 2010 - Our 4th season started amid fresh flowers, sparkling wine glasses, background music and black-draped tables. Oh, yes, and one of the best and most varied collections of art we’ve had from paintings and pottery to photography, jewellery and fabric art.
This year 33 businesses in Didsbury, Olds, Innisfail and Sundre are taking part – a 43% increase over last year. Word is definitely spreading about the success of this event. It was a great evening for networking and chatting about art. Many of the owners and representatives dropped by to meet the artists and enjoy the refreshments. The hard part for many business people was limiting their choices to only three artists. A comment repeated over and over during the evening was "I never knew there were so many talented people here." Ain’t that grand?
The business-artist match-ups are complete and the brochures are in progress. Art work displays will be set up June 22nd to 25th.
ArtWalk will start June 26th and run all summer closing on September 7th.

May 4, 2010 - Pierre Gaudette, owner of Chez François in Olds, played gracious host to a Meet-the-Artist night on May 4 in his lovely restaurant. While snow flurries fell outside the atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming and a number of people stopped by to meet the artists and to enjoy the wine and appetizers that Pierre provided.
All the tables and wall space were all given over to nine Wellspring artists to display their work which included woodcarvings, silk work, pottery, photography, paintings and jewelry.
Pierre initiated the idea and with support from the Olds & District Chamber of Commerce showed how local businesses can benefit by supporting the arts.
Thanks again, Pierre, to you and your staff for a lovely evening.
